Weekly Construction Update for week of November 4th


The contractors are trying to get the remainder of the surface layer paved eastbound.  The weather hasn’t been cooperating, as I am sure you all have witnessed the snow!   

For the week of November 4th, anticipated work includes:

Work in the westbound lanes:

  • Punch list items

Work in the eastbound lanes will shift daily for paving, typically working from the west towards the east:

  • Right/driving lane anticipated to be closed Friday 11/1 and Saturday 11/2 to finish shoulder
  • Left/passing lane anticipated to be closed starting Monday
  • Guard rail and shoulder may begin

NOTE that disruption will occur at side roads and median crossovers/intersections during surface paving.  Traffic looking to cross may be restricted for 10-15 minutes until the roller has passed.

The speed limit is reduced to 55mph throughout the work zone both eastbound and westbound

USH 18/151 Iowa County – Weekly Construction Update for week of October 28th


Contractors were successful in getting the first/binder layer of asphalt placed. They are currently working to place the second/surface layer.

For the week of October 28th, anticipated work includes:

Work in the westbound lanes:

  • Various lane closures for
    • shoulders
    • permanent pavement marking

Work in the eastbound lanes will shift daily for paving, typically working from the west towards the east:

  • Right/driving lane anticipated to be closed through Tuesday 10/28
  • CTH ID off and on ramp to be closed on Friday 10/25 for mainline surface
  • CTH ID off and on ramp to be closed on Tuesday 10/28 for surface
  • Left/passing lane anticipated to be closed Wednesday through Saturday for surface

For the week of October 21st, anticipated work includes:

    • permanent pavement marking

 Work in the eastbound lanes will shift daily for paving, typically working from the west towards the east:

  • Right/driving lane anticipated to be closed Monday thru Saturday
  • Ridgevue on-ramp to be closed on Monday 10/21 for mainline surface
  • CTH ID off and on ramp to be closed on Tuesday 10/22 for mainline surface.
  • CTH ID off and on ramp to be closed on Friday 10/25 for ramp surfacing

 The speed limit is reduced to 55mph throughout the work zone both eastbound and westbound

    • Adjustment of guard rail
    • shoulders
    • permanent pavement marking

Work in the eastbound lanes will shift daily for paving, typically working from the west towards the east:

  • Left/passing lane anticipated to be closed on Monday and Tuesday
  • Right/driving lane anticipated to be closed Wednesday thru Saturday
  • CTH ID ramps to be closed on Wednesday

 The speed limit is reduced to 55mph throughout the work zone both eastbound and westbound

For the week of October 7th, anticipated work includes:

    • removal and replacement of guard rail
    • shoulders

Work in the eastbound lanes:

  • Right/driving closed for
    • Sawing
    • Base patching
    • NOTE:  Monday crews will start at 3am near CTH K, working to the east
    • Asphalt paving will begin later in the week

Construction Updates


This week Iverson Construction has completed surface paving for westbound USH 18 from Blue Mounds to Ridgeway.   

Eastbound continues base patching in the driving lane. 

For the week of September 30th, anticipated work includes:

    • removal and replacement of guard rail

    • permanent pavement marking

 Work in the eastbound lanes:

  • Right/driving closed for
    • Sawing
    • Base patching
    • Removal of curb and gutter at intersections
    • New curb and gutter at intersections

1204-05-72 USH 18/151 Iowa County – Weekly Construction Update


The week of September 16, 2019 the contractor began the surface lift of asphalt for westbound. With dry weather, they plan to complete paving the shoulder and intersections this week. 

Eastbound continues base patching from Pikes Peak to CTH ID.  This Saturday, September 21st, removal crews will begin work at 3am. This is due to the rain slowing production, and contractors working to make up some of this lost time.

For the week of September 23rd, anticipated work includes:

Work in the westbound lanes:

  • Left Lane will close and move daily for surface paving throughout the week
  • Additional work includes temporary pavement marking

 Work in the eastbound lanes:

  • Right/driving closed from Ridgevue to Pikes Peak, and CTH ID to E County Line
    • Sawing
    • Base patching

Work took an unfortunate slow down the week of September 9th with many days of rain. Crews are trying to continue paving westbound, and perform base patching eastbound.

For the week of September 16th, anticipated work includes:

Work in the westbound lanes:

  • Right/Driving lane will be closed and will move daily for asphalt surface paving operations. The location of the closure will change daily.
  • Ramp Closures
    • Westbound CTH ID on/off ramps will be closed on Friday 9/13 and Saturday 9/14 for the surface layer of asphalt
    • Westbound Ridgevue off ramp will be closed on Wednesday 9/18 for the surface layer of asphalt
  • Additional work includes temporary pavement marking

 Work in the eastbound lanes:

  • Left/passing lane closed from CTH ID to E County Line
    • Sawing
    • Base patching
    • Centerline joint repair
  • Mid-week a short lane closure will be setup from Pikes Peak to the east, and still maintain a 3-mile buffer between work zones.
