TOWN OF RIDGEWAY REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING January 9, 2010 Board Members Present: Robert Thomas, Rich Strutt, Ken Bartz, Nancy Parkos Others Present: Mike & Laurie Crook, Robert Keene & Jay Walsh Meeting called to order by Robert Thomas at 9 AM. Minutes of December 5, 2009 meeting presented & reviewed. Thomas approved as corrected, no objections. Declared a legal meeting, notices posted at Town Hall, Farmers Savings Bank – Ridgeway Branch, Ridgeway Post Office & Website. Old Business – Jeanie Anderson did not attend. Briefly discussed that the response from town attorney still stands up to the landowner(s) to replace fence & Town would reimburse. Jeanie Anderson did not attend. It was discussed that the response from the Town Attorney was still the same that it is up to the landowner(s) to replace fence & if the fence was not paid for by the owner(s) of who share, that the fence belongs to then the Town would reimburse for the fence & put the expense on the share owners(s) taxes. Mike & Laurie Crook (Brotherhood Lane) discussed concern of their road. Strutt made a motion to add gravel & sealcoat at least seven tenths of a mile west ward from County Highway H on Brotherhood Lane this year. Bartz second, motion carried. Crooks also mentioned concrete that was dumped over the bank across from cabin. Thomas to discuss with patrolman. Jay Walsh gave the property classes from the Department of Revenue assessments. The town is 97% residential, 100% commercial, age undeveloped, ag forest, forest land & farm building sites. Jay also expressed his desire to be assessor for this year. The town has 1,249 parcels & his charge will be $6.50/parcel. Strutt made a motion to contract Jay Walsh as assessor for this year @ $6.50 per parcel & pay will be submitted in lump sum upon completion of open book & board of review. Bartz second. Motion carried. Thomas informed Board that a Working Lands Initiative meeting will be held at the courthouse at 6 PM on January 20th in the Board Room. Thomas asked clerk to notify the Land Use Committee members. Johnson & Block letter regarding procedure audit. Bartz made a motion to contract Audrey Rue @ $30/hour for a procedure valuation for up to two days. Strutt second. Motion carried. Other Concerns: Keene had questions on selling a house with some land regarding a conversion fee/penalty & rezoning. Recommended to talk to the Planning & Zoning Department for more information. Other concerns of board: Discussion on residents in the town who have not applied for building permits & what kind of a penalty should be imposed. Clerk been in contact with County regarding this. Walsh & Board discussed Board of Review attendance. The taxpayer would have to have paid all taxes by January 31st in order to attend Board of Review. Thomas & Strutt to attend WTA District Meeting on February 12th in Mineral Point. Clerk to attend WisLine February 9, 16 & 23rd @ Iowa County Courthouse. Town & Country Sanitation notice regarding increase in garbage & recycling. presented to board & signed by Thomas. February’s meeting to be Saturday, February 6th, 2010 @ 9 AM. Thomas made a motion at 10:50 AM to adjourn & Strutt second. Motion carried. Nancy Parkos/Clerk
